Inland, Durmitor National Park is home to bears and wolves, as well as encompassing limestone peaks, glacial lakes and the 1,300m-deep Tara River Canyon, which slices dramatically through the mountainside.

For warm and dry weather, as well as quieter months, the best time to visit Montenegro is between June and September.
